No. Clemmons First Baptist Preschool is a ministry of Clemmons First Baptist Church, so we’re license-exempt under North Carolina law. Church preschools like ours aren’t required to be licensed. Even though we’re not licensed, we’re committed to providing a safe, loving environment where children can learn, grow, and feel right at home.
Absolutely! We welcome families from all faith backgrounds. We believe every child is uniquely created and deeply loved by God. Parents sometimes jokingly ask if we’re going to turn their children into little Baptists, and we always smile and reassure them that’s not our goal. We simply want every child to learn about God’s love while feeling safe, accepted, and cared for.
Faith is a natural part of each day at our preschool. We read Bible stories, pray together, sing Christian songs, say a blessing before snack, learn a monthly Bible verse, and enjoy Chapel together. Throughout the day, our teachers also look for simple, everyday moments to talk about God’s love and kindness. Our greatest hope is that every child leaves knowing they’re deeply loved by God and experiences that love through the people who care for them each day.
Our teachers are one of the very best parts of our preschool! They’re chosen because they genuinely love working with young children and have a heart for helping them grow. Every teacher is at least 18 years old, has a high school diploma or equivalent, has experience working with young children, and is a Christian. Most importantly, they’re patient, caring, and passionate about creating a classroom where every child feels safe, loved, and encouraged.
Nothing’s more important to us than keeping your child safe while they’re at preschool. Our building stays securely locked throughout the school day, and only adults listed on your child’s authorized pickup form may pick them up. We require photo identification anytime we don’t personally recognize the person picking up a child. Every staff member and volunteer who works with children also completes a background check before serving in our preschool, giving families added peace of mind.
There’s so much more to being ready for kindergarten than knowing letters and numbers. Of course, we work on early reading, writing, and math skills, but we also help children learn to listen, follow directions, solve problems, work independently, be kind to others, and make friends. Those everyday skills build confidence and help children feel ready for what’s next. Our 4-year-old program also uses the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, including My First School Book and I Know My Numbers, to make learning fun, engaging, and age appropriate. We want children to leave preschool excited about learning and confident as they begin kindergarten.
Very little. We believe young children learn best by playing, exploring, creating, and interacting with their teachers and classmates, not by sitting in front of a screen. Our 4-year-old classes watch one Scholastic science video each month to support their science lessons. Teachers may occasionally share a preschool story on DVD, and every class enjoys one special movie day during our annual Pajama and Pancake Day celebration.
Yes! Weather permitting, every class enjoys about 30 minutes on the playground each day. Children also spend about 30 minutes in our Family Life Center gym for indoor gross motor play. Whether they’re climbing, running, dancing, or playing games, they’ll have plenty of opportunities to move, burn energy, and have fun.
We provide a daily snack for our Toddler and 2-year-old classes. Children in our 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes bring a snack from home each day. All children should also bring a labeled water bottle. For the safety of all our students, we’re a peanut-free facility.
We know those first few drop-offs can be emotional for both children and parents. The good news is that it’s completely normal, and we see it every year. Some children settle in right away, while others need a little extra time. We encourage parents to keep goodbyes short, cheerful, and confident, even when it’s hard. After you leave, our teachers will comfort your child and gently help them get involved with a favorite toy, a fun activity, or a new friend. Most children settle in much faster than parents expect. Before long, they begin to trust that preschool is a safe place and that Mom or Dad always comes back.
We know young children are still learning, so we approach discipline with lots of patience, encouragement, and grace. Rather than focusing on what a child shouldn’t do, we help them learn what they can do instead. If a child needs a few quiet moments to calm down, a teacher may help them move to a quieter area until they’re ready to rejoin the group. If we notice the same behavior happening over time, we’ll partner with you to find consistent ways to help your child be successful both at home and at preschool.
That depends on your child’s age. Children in our 4-year-old classes need to be fully potty trained before school begins. Children in our 3-year-old classes should be using the potty regularly, although we know occasional accidents happen. Our toddlers and 2-year-olds are welcome to come in diapers. When your child is ready to begin potty training, we’ll be happy to work alongside your family to help make the process a positive and encouraging experience.
Yes. All children attending our preschool are required to be up to date on their immunizations. We have children and staff members who are immunocompromised, so this policy helps us provide the safest and healthiest environment possible for everyone in our preschool family.
We all know that little ones share more than just toys! To help keep everyone healthy, children must be free of all symptoms of illness, without the use of fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol, for at least 24 hours before returning to preschool. If your child becomes ill during the school day, we’ll call you and ask that they be picked up as soon as possible.
We believe parents and teachers make the best team! Teachers stay in touch through text messages when needed and enjoy chatting briefly with parents during pickup each day. Every child also has a folder that travels between home and school for newsletters, notes, artwork, and other important information.
Our doors open at 8:55 a.m. We ask that children not arrive before then so our teachers have time to prepare their classrooms and be ready to welcome everyone for a wonderful day of learning, play, and fun.
Yes! Lunch Bunch is available on most Mondays and Wednesdays for our 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes. Children stay until 1:00 p.m., and the cost is $6 per session. You can sign up at the beginning of the school year or join anytime during the year. Many families enjoy the extra time for their children to play, learn, and spend time with friends.
